This feature allows users to group data at every hierarchy levels on the report so users can focus on overall group performance.
A group is collection of individual items under one heading. There are groups in the filters. If you look at the filter options when you are creating/editing a report or pulling up a list, you will see group names and then the individual items underneath the group. An example would be under the Categories filter.
In the filters, when you look at the group name, there is a little black triangle in front of it. If you click on the triangle, it will expand the group list and you would then see the individual items that are contained in that group.
Below screen shot, the group is named Beverages and there are 3 items within the group: Alcoholic Beverages, Non-Alcoholic Beverages and Water.
You can select the entire contents of the group by checking the group name or you can select specific items within the group by unchecking the group name and checking the checkbox for the individual items that you want to see
On the report via options tab, there are three grouping options available that you can set on the hierarchy:
1. Not Show Groups - this is the default option. This option is turned on when Box icon is displayed next to the hierarcy.
When the 'Not Show Groups' option is turned on, the report shows the items without the grouping name as shown below.
2. Show Groups - this option is tuned on after clicking on the Box icon. Hierarchy icon is displayed.
When the 'Show Groups' option is turned on, the report shows the grouping name with the individeal items within the group as shown below.
3. Show Groups Only - this option is tuned on after clicking on the Hierarchy icon. Layer icon is displayed.
When the 'Show Groups Only' option is turned on, the report shows only the grouping name without the individeal items within the group as shown below.
Notes:
- When using 'Show Groups Only', the individeal items that do not belong to any group are grouped under a single group called 'Ungrouped'.
- The 'Show Groups Only' option is available for the flex fields as well.
- You can also group the data on the Sales Outlook by checking the Show Grops checkbox.
